Dean and Dawn Day

Dean and Dawn got married this weekend! Everything turned out beautifully and we were so happy for them. The ceremony was perfect, the reception was fun and they were such troopers, they even followed us out to the bars afterward.

For some reason I was a nervous wreck prior to the ceremony and I really thought that Josh was going to call off our own wedding since I was driving him crazy with my own craziness. My temporary loss of sanity at Dean and Dawn's nuptials made me question what kind of nutsy bride I'm going to turn into on the day of our wedding.

In the end, a few drinks in the limo turned out to be the cure. If this is a preview of what I'm going to be like for our big day, then I might suggest that my bridesmaids be armed and ready with a bottle of Strongbow for me. Or maybe I could just get a baby blue flask and fill it with some other form of liquid courage and strap it to my thigh? That way it could be my something blue too! Just a thought. ;)

Da Bomb!

Thanks to an exhibition of Greater Des Moines' public service vehicles this weekend, I figured out my 2008 Halloween costume. Where do you suppose I can wrangle some bomb squad attire?

Breakfast Burritos are baaack too!

Downtown Farmers Market opened up for the summer last weekend too. It was rainy but that couldn't keep Josh and I away from the BEST breakfast burritos ever. And if a certain cousin or any other visitor to the Des Moines Farmers Market needs clarification on which breakfast burrito I speak of, it is the burrito that is prepared by Farm Boys Hearty Food Co. To get your own little slice of bacon, eggs and potato goodness, you'll want to visit their tent located at 3rd and Walnut. Any other "breakfast burrito" at the Farmers Market is an impostor and the only reason you should stop at their tent is to ask for directions on how to get to the Farm Boys one. :)

We also picked up some flowers from one of the vendors at the Farmers Market. This is a pic of them about a week later and the lilies are looking a bit wilty. :(

I'm baaack!

I've been on quite the hiatus from my blog since most of my weekends have been taken up with March for Babies events but that's all over, (thank God!).

Dawn had her bachelorette party this weekend since she is officially tying herself to the Ortiguerra name in a couple of weeks.

Remember when Yoga was the new "it" thing, then later it was Pilates and after that it was Yogilates? Well, friends, it appears that Pole Dancing is the new way to stay trim and fit these days. So we went to learn a few moves and I have to say that any hopes and dreams that I may have secretly harbored of becoming a stripper were dashed in the first few minutes of our class. Gravity and I were not on the same page and instead of floating and landing gently to the ground like a graceful butterfly, I crashed violently downward like a beetle with a broken wing. Pretty sexy, huh?

As luck would have it, this is the one pic of me actually staying off the ground for a good couple of seconds.

Welcome to the family, Dawn! After pole dancing, we all dressed in 80s gear. Unfortunately, this pic is missing the true star of my costume...my dad's tube socks. :)
